About Forge Health

As part of Forge Health, the Kenneth Peters outpatient center offers strong, evidence-based care for individuals dealing with drug and alcohol addiction across Long Island. Using a three-phase treatment model that has guided their services since 1995, the program begins with an intensive outpatient approach. In the first phase, clients attend 3-hour sessions 3 to 5 times per week. During this stage, participants learn about addiction, work with a sponsor, and build healthy coping and wellness skills. Medication-assisted treatment (MAT) may also be used when appropriate to help reduce cravings and lower the risk of relapse while clients stabilize.

The second phase serves as a step down from the initial level of care. Sessions last about 1.5 hours and typically occur 2 to 3 times per week. Here, clients focus on managing continuing concerns tied to maintaining sobriety, including matters related to family dynamics or internal triggers. Participants can also take part in specialty groups organized by age or gender.

The third and final phase emphasizes transition and long-term planning. Clients set personal goals, reflect on their progress, and take inventory of what they’ve achieved. Kenneth Peters also provides continuing care options to support sustained recovery. Additional programming includes specialized groups for first responders and gender-specific groups for alumni. The center’s programs are guided by 12-Step principles, supporting healing for the individual, family, and broader community.
