About Madrona Recovery

Madrona Recovery, based in Tigard, Oregon, provides holistic residential care for adolescents ages 13–17 who are dealing with substance use issues and related mental health concerns. The residential program typically lasts 30–45 days and is offered in a modern, comfortable setting with outdoor space, including 23 beds. Upon entry, each client is assigned their own room, though a roommate may be added later during the stay.

Services include medication management, weekly evidence-based counseling addressing both mental health and substance use, and participation in daily therapeutic groups. The daily groups emphasize practical life skills, recreational activities, recovery-focused skill-building, community involvement, and creative and experiential therapies such as art therapy and play therapy. Madrona Recovery may help manage certain detox-related symptoms, but it does not offer medically assisted detox. Before admission, nursing staff assess prospective clients to confirm they are appropriate for treatment at Madrona Recovery.

Family support is provided through weekly virtual family therapy. After the first 24 hours, clients may also make phone calls to family, but in-person family visits are not available while treatment is ongoing. Madrona Recovery does not mandate school participation; however, the program supports continued school involvement if clients choose to do so. During scheduled school hours, participants may use a laptop under staff supervision and receive assignments either through physical packets or digitally through their school.
