Set on the beautiful countryside just beyond Quito, Ecuador, Pathways of Hope provides a distinctive sober living setting. Kasa Speranza, meaning “house of hope,” is where up to seven residents take part in an immersive program shaped by an experiential approach grounded in 12-Step principles. As an extended care option, Pathways of Hope emphasizes spiritual growth, the 12 Steps, and building a deeper foundation for long-term recovery. The center does not provide detox or primary addiction treatment; instead, it offers aftercare through time in nature and wellness-focused experiences.

A signature feature of Pathways of Hope is its unique extended care program, the 7-7-7. Participants spend seven weeks in seven different places throughout Ecuador. Throughout the journey, they work through the 12 Steps and follow the Minnesota/Hazelden model. With a limit of just seven guests at any time, the program supports profound spiritual and emotional renewal, enhanced by a culinary expert and a guided exercise coach. Each location is designed for comfort and luxury, surrounded by breathtaking landscapes. One of the weeks includes a special encounter with an experienced Otavalo shaman, helping guests connect with meaningful sacred places while strengthening their own inner spirit. Across each location, days blend teaching with recreation, creating a balanced and engaging rhythm.

Clients can join Pathways of Hope up to four times each year, with each stay lasting seven weeks. Through nature-based practices and 12-Step healing, guests strengthen their connection to a Higher Power, develop resilience, and gain lasting tools for sobriety. The entire 7-7-7 structure is designed to support healing and completion, including its name. Across many cultures and faiths, the number seven is linked to completion, and in Pathways of Hope it represents deep healing, renewal, and hope.

Pathways of Hope is a family-run program driven by a dedicated team. It is led by a husband who serves as the lead counselor, bringing 30 years of experience, and a wife who manages the home, supported by years of experience. Alongside them is a professional recovery-focused team. Their two sons also contribute: one prepares gourmet meals, and the other provides physical fitness training. With consistent guidance through the 12 Steps, a strong emphasis on recovery tools, and access to stunning locations across Ecuador, Pathways of Hope helps every guest renew hope by offering unique experiences and practical support they can carry forward for life.
