Situated on 50 acres of tranquil grounds in Guelph, Ontario, Homewood Health Centre is a fully accredited, physician-directed, medically focused inpatient program for a broad spectrum of primary mental health challenges, including cases where mental health and addiction concerns occur together. The centre delivers targeted services for first responders, members of the military and veterans, health care professionals, individuals with eating disorders, and women managing complex trauma.

At Homewood Health Centre, clients receive a caring, well-rounded approach designed to respond to their specific needs in a personalized manner. Recovery is guided by a bio-psycho-social-spiritual model. Throughout treatment, clients participate in ongoing one-on-one sessions, with schedules adjusted to their individual circumstances. Much of the program is delivered in group formats, so most of a client’s day is spent in group sessions. Available programming includes group dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), individual cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, behavioral activation, interpersonal therapy, as well as art, music, horticulture, and recreational therapies. For addiction-related needs, treatment follows a two-step path, beginning with stabilization and then moving into longer-term recovery. Homewood also operates Canada’s largest inpatient eating disorder program for people aged 16 and older, supporting healthy patterns around eating and movement while reducing and interrupting eating disorder symptoms.

Homewood further provides recovery management and outpatient options that offer professional coaching and support to help individuals maintain long-term progress. Recovery management emphasizes strengthening skills, relapse prevention, overall wellness, and engaging family and other support systems. Services can be customized according to each client’s goals.

Homewood Health Centre is set on more than 50 acres of green space along the Speed River. The property includes walking trails through wooded areas, a baseball diamond, tennis and basketball courts, a meditation garden, horseshoe pits, a gazebo, quiet reading areas, and landscaped gardens. Clients have access to a well-equipped gym, recreation facilities, a greenhouse for horticultural therapy, a music therapy room, spaces for arts and crafts, laundry services, a library, dining areas, a café, and a gift shop. Massage and osteopathy services are also available on a fee-for-service basis. Accommodation is provided in either private or shared rooms.
