About Catholic Charities of Utica/Rome Womens Community Residence

Catholic Charities of Utica/Rome operates a 48-unit apartment program that helps people live independently and offers halfway house services with transitional housing for women who are moving on from inpatient treatment. Most residents remain in the program for about six months, supported by a structured environment that is free from drugs and alcohol and focused on promoting stable, independent recovery. The program follows a mutual help approach, encouraging peer support and meaningful involvement in everyday activities. Each participant works from an individual service plan and also participates in intensive outpatient care through nearby partner treatment providers. The center arranges transportation so residents can get to and from these appointments. Overall, the program aims to improve participants’ health, strengthen independence, and help them build positive, productive routines. While enrolled, residents are expected to participate actively in their treatment plans and are encouraged to join community recovery groups, including alcoholics anonymous (AA), narcotics anonymous (NA), and secular organizations for sobriety (SOS). These meetings support the development of lasting peer connections that can be important for long-term recovery. Enrollment is voluntary, and eligibility is not limited by an individual’s ability to pay.
