About Community Action Organization of Western NY, Inc.

The Community Action Organization of Western New York (CAO) – Drug Abuse Research and Treatment (DART) program supports people living with opioid use disorder in building lasting recovery. The program delivers key components such as medication-assisted treatment (MAT) and counseling, and it also connects participants with additional treatment options as needed. With the help of qualified medical and clinical professionals, each person receives an individualized recovery plan to support their progress toward greater independence.

In operation since 1971, the DART program is licensed and has offered private, confidential services throughout Western New York. It partners with local agencies to help address needs including housing and employment. CAO collaborates with community organizations, health providers, and area stakeholders to strengthen a network of care. The program’s mission is to help individuals and families regain stability, take back control of their lives, and contribute in a meaningful way to their communities.
