About The Counseling Center at Middlesex

The Counseling Center at Middlesex delivers individualized outpatient care for people dealing with substance use issues and mental health conditions. The center offers multiple levels of support, including intensive outpatient programming (IOP) as well as regular outpatient counseling, helping clients build sustainable recovery while continuing to meet everyday obligations. In most cases, the IOP schedule includes three group therapy sessions and one individual counseling session each week. The center also provides medication management for a range of mental health disorders, medication-assisted treatment for substance use disorders, and Spravato for those with treatment-resistant depression. An important part of the services is an integrated treatment approach that addresses co-occurring conditions, assists clients in recognizing underlying causes, and helps them understand personal triggers.

At the Counseling Center at Middlesex, clients receive evidence-based treatments such as cognitive behavioral therapy and dialectical behavior therapy, along with stress reduction strategies and practical life skills training throughout the program. Therapy is available in individual, group, and family formats, with telehealth options offered when appropriate.

The center additionally provides a focused outpatient program for teenagers aged 14 to 18. This program supports teens facing both mental health and substance use challenges, tackling concerns such as peer pressure, bullying, emotion regulation, and self-esteem.
