About Monmouth Healthcare Services LLC
Harbor MAT is an outpatient program that offers same-day care for adults dealing with opioid or heroin addiction, with services available by scheduled appointment or walk-in. The center’s experienced team of physicians, nurses, and outpatient counselors creates individualized treatment plans using both evidence-based and whole-person approaches. The program focuses on medication-assisted treatment (MAT) alongside one-on-one and group therapies.
At Harbor MAT, clinicians work to reduce uncomfortable effects of opioid withdrawal through two different medications that function similarly: Methadone and Suboxone. The Methadone maintenance option typically involves a daily oral liquid dose of Methadone, a long-acting synthetic opioid. Individuals taking Methadone generally do not experience changes in mood or euphoria, and many are able to stay alert and active without ongoing withdrawal symptoms. In addition, Methadone can support recovery by helping individuals complete heroin detoxification while doses are gradually decreased over approximately one to six months. Suboxone is another available option, taken each day as a sublingual film. Harbor MAT staff help clients evaluate which medication aligns best with their specific needs.
In addition to MAT, Harbor MAT provides structured, personalized substance use disorder treatment. Addiction is treated as a long-term, potentially life-threatening condition, and the program incorporates individual, group, and family counseling to deliver consistent support. Counseling is designed to assist clients as well as their families and to strengthen recovery within the broader community. Services are available for adults over 18 who are physically and psychologically dependent on opioids, including pregnant individuals. The center also offers on-site HIV case management for those who may require it.
