Adapt of Missouri Inc
2301 Hampton Avenue, St. Louis, MO 63139
Harris House was established in 1961 and has devoted over five decades to helping both men and women recover from drug and alcohol addiction. The center understands that each individual’s recovery journey is different, so it provides a complete range of services across multiple levels of care, including a 28-day inpatient stay, PHP, IOP, medical detox, and transitional housing. Harris House’s overall treatment model focuses on creating an individualized plan tailored to each client’s needs.
Along with support for substance use, participants receive skill-building in areas such as job readiness, stress and anger management, and education and treatment related to depression and anxiety. The IOP program follows a 12-Step approach and is priced well below the typical cost in the industry. Treatment is offered through both one-on-one sessions and group therapy. Group sessions may be either educational in nature or centered on shared experiences and discussion. Educational groups cover the physical effects addiction has on the body, illness concepts, the AA stages, how to recognize triggers, and strategies for relapse prevention. Weekly counseling includes involvement from both the client and their family. While clients participate in structured activities throughout the week, Sundays are kept lighter, giving them time for relaxation and personal downtime.
Harris House is based in St. Louis, Missouri, within a secure urban setting. Residents have semi-private rooms, access to an on-site fitness center, and meals prepared by the center’s chef. For clients traveling from outside the St. Louis area, airport pickup is available. After completing the program, graduates are encouraged to keep working with the IOP as needed and may join weekly aftercare groups for up to one year following treatment.
Also confirm the facility is licensed by Missouri. If you are withdrawing from alcohol or benzodiazepines, ask about medical detox; do not stop suddenly on your own.
Harris House did not report which payment types it accepts. If you have Medicaid, ask whether the facility accepts your Missouri Medicaid plan or can refer you to one that does. Most private plans must cover substance use treatment on terms comparable to other medical care under federal parity law.
