Two Rivers is Touchstone Mental Health’s Intensive Residential Treatment (IRT) program located in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The program provides services for up to 16 adults in a welcoming, accessible residence, including gender-neutral bathrooms and showers. It is created for people living with mental illness and includes 24-hour structured support aimed at strengthening emotional stability, building self-reliance, and promoting independence in a supportive, respectful home environment. Participants must be adults age 18 and older with a diagnosed mental illness and a primary need for psychiatric treatment. People who qualify may have previous hospital stays, have used crisis services, or have been involved with community-based supports. Insurance coverage may include Minnesota Medical Assistance, MinnesotaCare, and certain commercial plans that provide public coverage as a secondary option. To begin the process, applicants must receive a referral from a mental health professional. Programming includes one-on-one counseling, group therapy, and educational sessions covering mental illness, medications, and co-occurring conditions. Residents work on practical life skills and can participate in activities both on-site and in the surrounding community. Planning for discharge starts soon after admission to help ensure a successful transition back to independent life. The facility is tobacco-free, and participants are provided nicotine replacement options and smoking cessation education at no cost to help them maintain healthier routines.
