About PrairieCare

The outpatient clinic is part of a statewide network of mental health treatment providers in Minnesota. The Mankato site focuses on outpatient care for both young people and adults. It also provides partial hospitalization programs (PHP) for youth and adults who are dealing with mental health challenges. In addition, adults can receive outpatient support that may include family therapy, individual counseling, group therapy, psychiatric services, and accelerated resolution therapy (ART).

All individuals who come to PrairieCare complete an initial needs assessment to confirm that the treatment plan fits their situation. During their care, clients can receive access to psychiatric support, individual therapy, and family therapy as appropriate. For children and adolescents in the PHP, treatment may include approaches such as art therapy and play therapy. The PHP typically lasts about 3 to 5 weeks, based on each client’s progress.
