About Sandstone Care
Located about 35 minutes from Washington, D.C., Sandstone Care supports men aged 18–30 as they recover from addiction and co-occurring mental health conditions through structured day treatment and comfortable sober living. Using evidence-based approaches designed around men’s individual strengths, Sandstone helps residents grow independence and maintain a secure place to strengthen their recovery.
Sandstone Care Young Adult Sober Living is built to provide steady support while promoting self-reliance. The program aims to help each client develop a healthy, realistic, independent routine that reinforces long-term abstinence. Men are given the opportunity to work, pursue hobbies, use technology, and enjoy everyday activities within a drug- and alcohol-free setting. With an individualized independent living structure based on each person’s needs, Sandstone Care offers the resources required to move through recovery with confidence.
Young adults may also join Sandstone’s nearby day treatment or intensive outpatient program, where they can participate in individual, group, and family therapy. Therapy at Sandstone uses a personalized, research-backed approach that supports customized treatment plans for healing and progress. Clients typically work with cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT). Complementing traditional services, holistic options may include mindfulness practices, somatic-focused approaches, and nutrition counseling.
Sandstone Care’s gender-specific sober living setting features private bedrooms with full-size beds, along with a roomy backyard, a large outdoor patio, and Wi-Fi. Recovery is reinforced through hands-on activities such as hiking, paintball, rock climbing, batting cages, Topgolf, and Phoenix Multisport. Ongoing peer encouragement from other men who understand the recovery process helps build a supportive sober community.
