About Chrysalis House Inc
Founded in 1986, Chrysalis House is among the limited residential rehabilitation options in Maryland that lets women stay with their children while they receive treatment, which helps remove a key obstacle to getting care. The center serves both mothers and women who do not have children, and it provides programming at no charge for individuals covered by Medicaid. Before admission, applicants must complete detox and remain substance-free for at least five days.
The residential service is accredited to ASAM Level 3.3 and includes round-the-clock clinical oversight. Each participant works with staff to develop a personalized treatment plan. This plan may feature medication-assisted treatment (MAT), education on substance use disorders, relapse prevention programming, family counseling, and on-site 12-Step group meetings. Support is further strengthened through life skills development, parenting education, case management, help with transportation, and dedicated infant and child care available on site.
Chrysalis House also provides intensive outpatient care (ASAM 2.1) and standard outpatient programming (ASAM 1.0) for program graduates or for people who need outpatient services from the start. Plans are tailored and can include counseling, MAT, relapse prevention, drug screening, and connections to housing, employment, and other community supports. These adaptable options support sustained recovery, promote stability, and help women transition to independent living with ongoing clinical and peer support.
