About University of Maryland Medical Center
This behavioral health center supports adults in overcoming mental health and substance use issues through inpatient treatment, outpatient services, and a day hospital program. The multidisciplinary team works with diagnoses such as depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders, and addictions involving alcohol or opioids.
Treatment includes medication-assisted treatment (MAT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), counseling groups, and family participation to promote progress, coping skills, and ongoing symptom control. During the day hospital program, adults take part in full-day, structured therapeutic programming, while other participants receive outpatient care or short-term inpatient services designed to keep treatment consistent.
Inpatient rooms are equipped with hand-painted murals that create a soothing atmosphere. The center also offers gender-specific support groups and facilitates on-site 12-Step meetings. Throughout each stage of care, clinicians deliver evidence-based interventions and help clients move to the next level with individualized step-down planning.
