About Healing Place
The Healing Place is a nonprofit organization focused on helping adults recover from addiction. It began as a homeless shelter and medical clinic for men, and over time grew into a widely known recovery center that supports close to 1,000 men and women each day without charging clients. Guided by a peer-based social approach, the organization centers on empowerment and community connection to help remove obstacles to long-term recovery.
The Healing Place provides a complete range of recovery services, such as non-medical detox, long-term residential treatment, and transitional housing for people who have finished residential care. Its main long-term program is structured in several phases, starting with detox, moving into intensive peer-led recovery, and then offering ongoing aftercare. The men’s campus delivers a gender-specific model of addiction treatment and is based in Louisville, Kentucky.
