Aware Recovery Care Kentucky uses a distinctive “Recover Where You Live” model for addiction treatment for adults 18 and older. Through its In-Home Addiction Treatment (IHAT) program, clients receive a blend of on-site and remote support, along with concierge assistance designed to match individual requirements. The center treats addiction through a biopsychosocial curriculum that incorporates evidence-based therapeutic approaches, medication-assisted treatment (MAT), individual counseling, family counseling, and coordinated involvement of qualified outside providers. When detox is necessary, clients can complete medically supervised detox with virtual nursing and MAT support.
The philosophy at Aware Recovery Care Kentucky is centered on empathy and understanding, based on the idea that everyone should have the chance to build sustainable recovery. By focusing on each person’s specific needs and offering ongoing support within the home, the program aims to help individuals move toward a healthier, more satisfying life free from addiction.
To guide clients throughout treatment, Aware Recovery Care Kentucky assigns a care coordinator, either a nurse or social worker, along with two client recovery advisors (CRAs) who provide peer support and help coordinate services. They determine what additional external care is needed and schedule appointments with a primary care provider (PCP), an individual therapist, relevant medical specialists, and a family education facilitator. If clients already have established providers, the medical director works to coordinate care with them. The family education facilitator helps loved ones understand addiction and recovery and provides support on how to heal together as a family system.
The program typically continues on a monthly schedule, with treatment lengths ranging from one month to up to a year. As part of the in-home and virtual model, clients may receive up to 20 virtual 1:1 therapy sessions with an Internal Psychotherapist. These sessions help clients develop tools to manage stress and strengthen self-esteem, self-compassion, and communication. Clients also work on identifying and changing unhelpful thinking patterns.
A typical routine includes a one-hour check-in with a member of the treatment team. Depending on the day, clients may receive an in-person visit from one of the two CRAs or meet via video with their 1:1 therapist. Monthly meetings with the care coordinator ensure that the team stays aligned with the client’s needs and goals, with frequent collaboration to support progress.
Clients complete treatment through a customized discharge plan designed for their unique situation and home environment. They review the full discharge plan with the clinical coordinator, including how they will continue building support through social connections, the goals they will continue working on, and aftercare appointments arranged with licensed providers connected to their care journey.
