About Gilead House
Gilead House helps women transition back into everyday life after incarceration by providing sober housing along with structured assistance. Residents receive counseling, life skills instruction, and relapse-prevention support. As a nonprofit that accepts only Indiana Medicaid, the center operates in a renovated facility that previously served as a YWCA. The program typically lasts 90 to 120 days, with the option to stay longer.
Using research-supported practices and individualized guidance, Gilead House focuses on helping participants build the support and habits needed for long-term recovery. The housing is offered to women in its outpatient program, generally scheduled Monday through Friday from 8:45AM to 12PM. During the first 30 days, participants are not permitted to have cell phones or receive visitors. After that initial period, visits are allowed on Saturdays and Sundays from 2-4PM. Job searching begins no earlier than day 60, and employment may not begin until day 75. These requirements are intended to keep attention on recovery and to create a stable foundation with lasting results.
