About First City Recovery Center
First City Recovery Center (FCRC) helps people struggling with substance use disorders and mental health challenges through individualized, research-supported treatment plans delivered across several levels of care. Options may include detox, inpatient residential care, day treatment (partial hospitalization), intensive outpatient services, and standard outpatient programming, with sober living available. FCRC also offers a residential program for mental health stabilization and separate outpatient support for mental health needs, along with integrated dual-diagnosis treatment throughout the full continuum of care.
First City Recovery Center begins with an intake evaluation and consultation to identify the most appropriate level of care for each person. When required, clients receive medically supervised detox with 24/7 monitoring. Residential programming provides ongoing oversight for individuals managing mental health concerns, addiction, or both. Throughout treatment, clients participate in evidence-based therapies such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), contingency management, motivational interviewing, eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), and family therapy.
FCRC’s mental health stabilization program is designed as intensive residential care for those who need close supervision and crisis support. The center also addresses co-occurring conditions, treating issues that may include anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), eating disorders, self-harm, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).
In addition, First City Recovery Center includes holistic approaches such as art and music therapy, mindfulness meditation, experiential therapy, psychodrama, and journaling. The facility runs a veterans program focused on trauma recovery and PTSD support. FCRC’s post-traumatic growth (PTG) program emphasizes resilience and stress reduction to help clients build independence and confidence as they transition back to everyday life. Programming can continue through residential, day treatment, intensive outpatient, and outpatient levels. The Visible Recovery alumni group also meets regularly, with monthly events held across Illinois.
