Hope Academy, located near the University of Indianapolis, is the only accredited recovery high school in Indiana. It provides a tuition-free public charter education for students in grades 9–12. The school is designed to offer a safe, substance-free setting that supports both academic progress and personal growth. Students also receive free transportation across Indianapolis and surrounding communities.
Hope Academy delivers extensive support to help students stay on track during recovery. Counseling and recovery assistance are built into the school day, so learners have access to the tools they need to maintain sobriety while continuing their education. As part of the program, students attend two 12-Step meetings each week, meet regularly with recovery coaches, and use resources such as 90-in-90 journals. They also take part in sober after-school activities.
Classes average about seven students, allowing for individualized guidance and a close-knit atmosphere. The academy follows a challenging Core 40 or Academic Honors curriculum and teaches practical life skills, including time management, interviewing, personal finance, and resume writing. Impressively, 94% of Hope Academy graduates go on to further post-secondary education, reflecting how well the program prepares students for their next steps.
