About Hillcrest Washington Youth Home Inc

Hillcrest supports Indianapolis-area youth by offering a variety of services at a rate that is affordable for individuals who need help with substance use disorder treatment or other behavioral health needs. Hillcrest also runs a short-term emergency shelter lasting about 4 to 5 days for young people who are facing an immediate lack of housing or who cannot safely go back home. During this time, residents receive essential support to help them feel secure and cared for. The center further provides residential services for court-involved youth who show signs of substance use disorders.

For youth who need substance use treatment through an outpatient approach, Hillcrest focuses on helping participants understand addiction as a disease, including how genetic and generational factors can influence risk. The program helps young people recognize triggers and cravings, work through cravings, and build skills needed to maintain sobriety. It is structured in two parts: eight psychoeducational sessions followed by four counseling sessions for continued support. Alongside substance use services, Hillcrest offers additional programming for youth involved in theft or exhibiting aggressive behavior. The center also provides support for pregnant teens and mothers of newborns, including education to promote healthy child development.
