About Gateway Foundation

Founded in 1968, Gateway Foundation has supported thousands of individuals in their recovery from addiction. Today, Gateway has more than 16 locations and is recognized as one of the prominent addiction treatment providers in the Illinois region. Gateway at Downer Grove focuses on outpatient addiction care, providing effective support for people who need a treatment schedule that fits their lives. Services are available Monday through Thursday, from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The program uses an eight-part, research-backed curriculum that includes cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing (MI), medication-assisted treatment (MAT), mindfulness-based approaches, trauma-informed care, and treatment for dual diagnoses when mental health conditions occur alongside substance use disorders.

The Downer Grove location is situated conveniently between Naperville and Chicago, Illinois. While in care, clients can also participate in sober activities such as exploring Hidden Lake Forest Preserve through hiking, trying zip-lining, and visiting the nearby Adventure Park.

Gateway Foundation is accredited by the Joint Commission and works with most private insurance plans.
