About Montrose Behavioral Health
Montrose Behavioral Health Outpatient Services is situated in downtown Chicago and provides outpatient care for adolescents and adults through partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient programs. These services are designed for individuals with primary mental health diagnoses such as depression, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), suicidal thoughts, self-harm, and other related conditions. The programs may also address additional issues, including substance use disorders, anxiety disorders, phobias, eating disorders, and panic disorder.
The partial hospitalization program (PHP), sometimes called day treatment, generally lasts 4 to 6 weeks. It runs 4 to 5 days per week for about 6 hours each day. At intake, clients are evaluated to help the clinical team develop a personalized treatment plan. That plan can include medical services, medication management, medication-assisted treatment (MAT), individual counseling, family therapy, group therapy, and experiential therapies.
The intensive outpatient program (IOP) follows a similar approach to the PHP, but typically meets 3 to 4 days per week for around 3 hours per session. Most participants remain in the program for approximately 4 to 6 weeks. Toward the end of treatment, a multidisciplinary group that may include physicians, social workers, case managers, and nurses reviews progress, shares continuing care recommendations, and helps connect clients with appropriate community resources.
