About Lawrence Hall

Based in Chicago, Illinois, CFTC supports children and young adults ages 4–25 who face serious emotional and behavioral difficulties, such as trauma, neglect, and abuse. The center provides 24-hour residential services, along with therapy, schooling, and transitional living. Through a structured, caring setting, CFTC aims to promote healing, personal growth, and a healthier future.

CFTC follows a trauma-informed model, recognizing that traumatic experiences can shape thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. The program includes a range of therapies, including counseling, art, music, recreation, and animal-assisted therapy, giving young people safe ways to communicate, regulate stress, and strengthen confidence. With these supports, participants build practical life skills and learn how to form healthy relationships.

In addition, the center offers engaging, creative activities such as theater, outdoor adventure therapy, and music instruction. Youth may take part in performances of Shakespeare, try activities like rock climbing, or practice playing instruments. These experiences encourage recovery while helping them develop self-esteem, clearer identity, and a sense of purpose.
