Set on a quiet seven-acre retreat just outside Savannah, Georgia, Front Porch Recovery provides residential addiction programs in 30-, 60-, and 90-day options that can be tailored to each man’s needs. The center’s intentionally gender-specific approach is designed to help men turn inward and rebuild connection with others who understand what they’ve been through, easing the loneliness that often comes with addiction. Because programming is customized, clients participate in daily one-on-one therapy sessions, whether they’re doing reflective work during everyday moments like games, gathering by the fire, or taking walks across the property. Participants can also select from a variety of experiential approaches such as equine therapy, tai chi, and neurofeedback. The Front Porch Recovery team brings firsthand insight to the process, drawing on personal experience to support men as they form a strong foundation for a fresh start. At Front Porch Recovery, the guiding belief is that connection is the antidote to addiction.
Recovery at Front Porch Recovery begins with understanding. A trauma-informed model views addiction as a way of coping with life’s pain, which helps reduce shame and supports authentic healing. Led by clinician-owners and experienced healthcare professionals with more than 20 years in the field, the program follows a careful, step-by-step path. Early stages prioritize safety and comfort so clients can establish trust and stability before moving into deeper personal work. Once a solid base is in place, clients engage in evidence-based, experiential, and nontraditional therapies to support lasting change. Each person can shape their own plan, with options that may include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), relapse prevention planning, somatic experiencing, art and sound healing, medication-assisted treatment (MAT), and more.
Family involvement is also a key part of treatment at Front Porch Recovery. Families meet with clinicians either virtually or in person to better understand the neuroscience of addiction. When it’s clinically appropriate, Sunday family visitation is encouraged. As clients make progress—whether through breakthroughs, clarity, or new insight—they can celebrate by heading to “The Ring” and ringing the bell. Alongside the eight hours of daily programming, clients can join a wide range of on-site and off-site activities such as caring for rescued animals, frisbee golf, mini-golf, go-karts, boxing, bocce ball, horseshoes, and more.
The entire Front Porch Recovery environment is designed to feel safe, calming, and supportive. The secluded, peaceful grounds, the refined character of the home, comfortable full-sized beds and open gathering spaces, the wrap-around porch, and the steady presence of live oaks help clients settle in and begin their healing. Meals may be catered, prepared by a chef, or cooked by clients with support from a meal delivery service. This combination of comfort, quiet, and nourishment helps clients feel at home as they work toward recovery.
