About Newport Academy
Newport Academy’s Atlanta, Georgia outpatient center provides therapeutic care for adolescents aged 12–18 dealing with substance use, depression, anxiety, and challenging social situations. The outpatient program is designed to support not only teens, but also their families, including parent connection to nearby support resources and family therapy sessions held on site. Newport Academy’s evidence-based, integrated model helps teens build the skills they need for a positive future.
The program builds on each teen’s current network of care, strengthening it with tailored guidance and structure. Academic support is also included, with help for schoolwork through tutors and a supportive peer community that encourages progress. After school, teens attend appointments at Newport’s Atlanta location for a schedule that includes individual, group, and family therapy. In addition, they participate in experiential therapies to complement traditional treatment approaches.
At the Atlanta center, care extends beyond the therapy room, bringing teens into the community and into nearby outdoor experiences. On site, Newport Academy offers horticulture therapy, giving teens the chance to learn and grow through gardening, and there is also space to take part in theatre-related activities. Seasonal programming may include hiking on the Appalachian Trail, canoeing, and kayaking along the Chattahoochee River.
Newport Academy emphasizes attachment-based family therapy to help repair relationships and empower parents to become trusted allies in their teen’s recovery. Education about addiction and mental health is shared across the family system. Teens work to understand the reasons behind difficult behaviors through individualized therapy and comprehensive assessments, learning strategies to reduce exposure to triggers. With comfortable rooms, a welcoming atmosphere, and a focus on privacy and respect, Newport Academy in Atlanta offers teens a supportive environment to begin healing.
