About Aware Recovery Care Georgia

Aware Recovery Care Georgia uses a distinctive “Recover Where You Live” model for addiction care for adults aged 18 and older. Through its in-home addiction treatment (IHAT) program, the center combines in-person support at home with virtual sessions, along with concierge-style assistance, designed to fit each person’s situation. Treatment is based on a biopsychosocial curriculum that incorporates proven therapeutic approaches, medication-assisted treatment (MAT), individual counseling, family therapy, and coordinated collaboration with outside healthcare professionals. The philosophy at Aware Recovery Care Georgia is rooted in empathy and respect, built on the idea that everyone should have a real chance at long-term recovery. The program focuses on personal needs and offers ongoing guidance in the home to help clients move toward a healthier, more meaningful, addiction-free life. Each client works with a dedicated care coordinator, either a nurse or a social worker, as well as two client recovery advisors (CRAs) who provide peer support and help coordinate services throughout the program. The team determines what additional external care is needed and sets up appointments with a primary care provider (PCP), individual therapists, relevant medical specialists, and a family education facilitator. When clients already have these providers, the medical director coordinates treatment with them. The family education facilitator assists loved ones by educating them about addiction and recovery and supporting healing as a family. The program continues on a monthly schedule, with the overall duration typically ranging from one month up to a year. It includes a mix of home and virtual services, such as up to 20 virtual 1:1 therapy sessions with an Internal Psychotherapist. During these sessions, clients build skills to handle stress and strengthen self-esteem, self-compassion, and communication. They also work to recognize and reshape unhelpful thinking patterns. A typical day involves about an hour with a member of the care team. Depending on the schedule, clients may receive an in-person visit from one of the two CRAs or join a video meeting with their 1:1 therapist. Clients also meet monthly with their Care Coordinator. The team works closely together to ensure the plan stays focused on the client’s needs and recovery goals. Clients at Aware Recovery Care Georgia complete a customized discharge process tailored to their individual treatment plan and home environment. With their clinical coordinator, they review a detailed discharge plan that includes continued involvement in social supports, the continuation of established goals, and aftercare appointments set up with licensed providers who will support them following treatment.
