About Turning Point of Tampa

Since 1987, Turning Point of Tampa has provided care for people dealing with addiction, eating disorders, and co-occurring conditions across the Tampa Bay region. Before treatment begins, the center completes a detailed evaluation to help each client develop an individualized plan.

Turning Point of Tampa offers several levels of support, including medical detox, residential treatment, day programming (partial hospitalization), and intensive outpatient care (IOP). Depending on each person’s circumstances, they can start their recovery journey at the setting that best matches their needs.

The staff at Turning Point of Tampa includes physicians, therapists, and nurses committed to high-quality treatment. Clients take part in evidence-based approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and motivational interviewing. Alongside these methods, the center focuses on whole-person healing and may include expressive arts therapy and equine therapy. Clinical care is trauma-informed and can incorporate trauma-focused treatments such as narrative therapy and psychodrama to support clients managing mental health challenges alongside addiction or other disorders. For clients in the eating disorder program, the focus includes nutrition education, meal planning, and recognizing personal triggers.

Because Turning Point of Tampa is family-owned, it emphasizes healing that involves loved ones as well. The center provides a weekly family support group offering education about addiction and a place for family members to connect with others who understand similar experiences. Turning Point of Tampa also operates the Resolve program for active-duty service members and veterans, addressing concerns that may include substance use disorders, chronic pain, trauma, unstable housing, and suicide risk. Graduates of Turning Point of Tampa can continue participating in weekly aftercare groups for life with no added cost.

Turning Point of Tampa provides private and semi-private rooms. Each residence includes cable television, telephones, full kitchens, and laundry facilities. Clients can also take advantage of on-site amenities such as yoga, acupuncture, and recreational courts for volleyball and basketball, as well as access to off-site activities.
