About Lifeskills South Florida

Lifeskills South Florida has two licenses that allow it to address addiction as well as primary mental health conditions. Its residential programs in Fort Lauderdale and Deerfield Beach offer fully furnished townhomes with staffed support available around the clock. Lifeskills South Florida supports people dealing with substance use disorders, behavioral or process addictions, mental health issues, and co-occurring (dual diagnosis) conditions. Treatment is guided by six clinical tracks, and decisions about a client’s primary and secondary path are made after medical assessments, diagnostic workups, and review of treatment progress.

The center delivers a range of evidence-based therapeutic approaches, each conducted by clinicians with specialized training and experience. Among the therapies used are cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy and radically open dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT, RO-DBT), cognitive processing therapy (CPT), cognitive remediation therapy (CRT), eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), rational emotive behavioral therapy (REBT), Seeking Safety, as well as exposure and ritual prevention therapy (ExRP). Throughout the program, each client works with a dedicated primary therapist, and family therapy is also available as part of treatment.

Lifeskills South Florida treats a broad set of mental health conditions, including borderline personality disorder (BPD), anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, bipolar disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), trauma and PTSD, schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorders, psychosis, other thought disorders, and dual diagnoses. The six clinical pathways are designed to align with where each person is in their recovery journey, their individual circumstances, and their specific diagnosis. The tracks include DBT, CBT, an addiction-focused pathway, CRT, a trauma-focused pathway, and a complementary metabolic fitness track. Staff select and adjust the appropriate pathway over time based on ongoing needs, diagnosis changes, and progress.

In addition to primary clinical care, clients receive individualized adjunct services. Lifeskills South Florida offers activities and supportive programs such as yoga, culinary classes, meditation groups, transportation to community events and off-site appointments, art and music therapy, and outings that include gym access. The program is Psych Armor Veteran Ready Certified. Services are also tailored for veterans and Jewish clients, with special attention to their unique requirements. The residential setting includes shared bedrooms, shared community spaces, and access to a swimming pool.
