About Palm Shores Behavioral Health Center

Set on Florida’s Gulf Coast along the Manatee River, Palm Shores Behavioral Health Center provides intensive residential psychiatric care for adolescents aged 11–17 who are experiencing mental health challenges. The program focuses on meeting behavioral, emotional, and psychiatric needs through structured, stepwise treatment phases built on trauma-informed practices and education.

The goal is to help each young person return safely to their family or community by building practical coping skills that support healthier, more responsible decisions. Palm Shores combines advanced safety protocols with a reassuring, everyday-feeling environment for residents. Care is delivered through evidence-based therapies in individual, family, and group settings, along with peer support groups and creative or expressive therapeutic activities.

Housing is designed for comfort and includes well-equipped living spaces and large outdoor areas. Residents can take advantage of a spacious playground, a regulation-size sports field, basketball and volleyball courts, and a dedicated kickball field.

Palm Shores Behavioral Health Center accepts most major commercial insurance plans, as well as Florida Healthy Kids, Medicaid, Tricare, and CHAMPVA.
