About APT Foundation Inc

APT West Haven Clinic provides care for people dealing with substance use and related mental health challenges. The center offers group, individual, and family counseling, along with medication management and medication-assisted treatment (MAT). An intensive outpatient program (IOP) is also available, with programming three days a week and a minimum of 9 hours weekly that includes group therapy, individual counseling, and psychiatric consultation.

Treatment at APT West Haven Clinic is trauma-informed and based on clinical evidence. Services may include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and motivational interviewing (MI). The clinic also runs daily groups covering many areas such as trauma, grief, relapse prevention, psychoeducation, and goal planning, as well as options like acupuncture, meditation, and mindfulness. MAT is available using medications such as methadone and buprenorphine, and psychiatrists oversee prescriptions and support medication adjustments when needed. When appropriate, clients may join sessions by telehealth, including during public health emergencies. The clinic also provides family and couples therapy to support clients in working toward relationship and mental health goals.

APT Foundation has supported substance use treatment since 1970. The organization focuses on delivering services regardless of ability to pay and uses an open access approach that serves clients without regard to financial status.
