About Sandstone Care
Sandstone Care in Colorado Springs, CO provides treatment for substance use disorders and mental health issues for adults age 18 and older. The center’s multidisciplinary team, including physicians, nurses, psychologists, and licensed therapists, delivers coordinated support. For people who need it, Sandstone Care offers an inpatient detox program that typically runs from 5 to 21 days, with outpatient services available in the area after discharge to help maintain progress.
Sandstone Care maintains a 3:1 staff-to-client ratio so care can be more individualized for clients and for their families. Programming addresses addiction as well as co-occurring mental health conditions such as depression, trauma-related issues, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), bipolar disorder, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and borderline personality disorder (BPD). When appropriate, the program incorporates medication-assisted treatment to help reduce symptoms and support long-term recovery.
Across different levels of care, clients participate in twice-weekly individual therapy sessions along with group therapy, structured group activities, and psychoeducation. The therapeutic approach includes cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT). Additional wellness-focused services may include mindfulness practices, art and music therapies, and nutritional counseling. Clients also receive academic and career support through a dedicated advisor who helps them navigate school, employment goals, and career planning.
Sandstone Care’s licensed clinical team, medical staff, therapists, and education support staff work closely with parents and other loved ones during the course of treatment. Families can attend weekly multi-family groups to learn strategies, share experiences, and strengthen support systems. Family therapy focuses on understanding addiction and dual diagnoses, improving communication, developing healthy boundaries, and supporting emotional expression. After discharge, clients become part of a committed alumni community that meets regularly and provides access to helpful community resources.
