About Southern Peaks RTC

Located in south-central Colorado, Southern Peaks Regional Treatment Center is a trauma-informed facility serving male and female adolescents ages 10–18. It provides care for mental health concerns, behavioral difficulties, substance use, and related co-occurring issues. Using a client-centered, evidence-based approach, the center helps young people dealing with mental health challenges, trauma, aggression, and multiple overlapping diagnoses. The program emphasizes emotional recovery, strength-building, and active family participation, offering a supportive setting where progress can take root. Across its residential and day treatment services, Southern Peaks tailors treatment to each individual’s needs. Clients may receive support for more than one diagnosis. Services are guided by detailed evaluations, individualized aftercare plans, and established therapeutic interventions such as trauma-informed cognitive behavioral therapy (TI-CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), equine-assisted therapy, and recreational therapy. Together, these approaches promote healing, emotional regulation, resilience, and healthier choices. Care is delivered by a multidisciplinary team that includes psychiatrists, therapists, nurses, and educators who collaborate to support whole-person recovery. Southern Peaks also focuses on continuity after treatment through organized discharge planning and coordinated aftercare. Discharge preparation includes relapse-prevention planning and educational transition support so youth can return to their communities with confidence and practical life skills. The center’s mission is to prepare adolescents for successful reintegration—helping them move forward with confidence, tools they can use, and hope for what comes next.
