About Evolve Teen Comprehensive DBT

Evolve Aura is a structured residential treatment program that provides individualized care using solution-oriented, evidence-based approaches for up to six adolescents ages 12–17. The program is located in spacious luxury residences, where participants can choose private or shared accommodations. Teens receive meals prepared by an onsite chef, access to computers for two hours of school from Monday through Friday, and a range of comfort and wellness amenities including a pool, fitness center, outdoor lounge areas, and chef services. The facility is licensed and supervised 24/7 by a trained team, creating a safe, consistent therapeutic setting that supports recovery.

The center’s dual-diagnosis track focuses on mental health, substance use, and co-occurring conditions, combining therapies such as group and family counseling, motivational interviewing (MI), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT). During admissions, experienced clinicians conduct a detailed assessment to develop a customized treatment plan for each teen, with ongoing reviews and updates to ensure the plan continues to match evolving needs and personal goals.

Evolve provides care for a broad spectrum of challenges, including anxiety, depression, self-harm or suicidal thoughts, post-traumatic stress disorder and trauma, bipolar and other mood disorders, gender dysphoria, disordered eating, borderline and other personality disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), psychosis, and mood or behavioral instability. Substance-related treatment addresses issues involving alcohol, cannabis, opioids, prescription medications such as stimulants or sedatives, synthetic substances with hallucinogenic or stimulant effects, and tobacco-related difficulties. The dual-diagnosis setting is designed to support teens dealing with both mental health and substance use concerns, including those with high-functioning autism spectrum disorder (ASD) when a co-occurring mental health or substance issue is present.

Alongside evidence-based clinical approaches, Evolve incorporates clinician-led experiential and mindfulness-based therapies to help teens develop healthier ways to communicate, strengthen self-awareness, and practice new coping skills. These may include equine therapy, art therapy, psychodrama, surf therapy, and nature-focused activities like hiking. The schedule also includes weekly yoga, opportunities for physical activity in the fitness center, and weekly community outings such as beach visits, movies, hikes, miniature golf, and museum trips to reinforce skill-building through real-world experiences and to recognize progress.

The clinical team at Evolve delivers evidence-based treatment for teens and their families through individual, group, and family therapy. With a strong emphasis on DBT, the program follows DBT principles and structures, and participants attend four DBT skills groups each week. Additional interventions for substance use and co-occurring disorders may include seeking safety, relapse prevention, anger management, meditation, and life skills instruction. Family therapy and family support groups are also included to help caregivers stay engaged in treatment and coordinate care. Evolve Aura is Joint Commission and CARF accredited and works with most major insurance plans.
