About Benchmark Transitions

Benchmark runs a dual diagnosis program tailored for young adult men between 18 and 26 years old. The center was established in 1993 by Jaynie Longnecker-Harper M.Ed, widely recognized as a respected figure in the field of special education and transitional living programs for young adults. After raising four children as a single parent, Jaynie saw firsthand how limited resources could leave many young people—and their overwhelmed families—without the support they needed to build independence. Drawing on her education, professional experience, and personal insight into addiction, she created Benchmark to offer a practical setting where troubled teens and struggling young adults could learn the skills to move toward self-reliance.

Benchmark has achieved strong results with a variety of complex mental health needs, including anxiety, bipolar disorder, depression, ADHD, attachment and trauma concerns, disordered eating behaviors, psychosis, mild autism spectrum conditions, challenges with executive functioning, and learning differences. Through a multidisciplinary approach, residents receive evidence-based treatment combined with recreational programming and holistic support. Individuals live within a structured, encouraging environment and work with services such as individual counseling, equine therapy, strategies for personal growth, life skills training, educational opportunities, family therapy, music therapy, and additional complementary supports.

For residential programming, Benchmark operates two properties. Wildwood is located on a 52-acre working ranch and features a luxury 700-square-foot ranch home. Panorama Ridge for Men sits on a beautiful property designed to feel like home. Transitional living clients stay in either Cypress House or Magnolia House. Extended Residential Transitional Living is provided in residential neighborhoods within the historic community of Redlands, California, and select homes may include amenities such as a swimming pool, spacious gardens, horses, recreational rooms, and similar comforts.

Overall, Benchmark Transitions offers a safe, nurturing setting and a program designed to be genuinely distinctive for young adults.
