About Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation

The Hazelden Betty Ford Foundation’s Betty Ford Center in Rancho Mirage is known for its strong program options and a wide alumni community that continues to offer encouragement after treatment. In 1982, Betty Ford Center founder and former First Lady Betty Ford, who was also in recovery, turned her commitment to addiction care into a lasting resource by establishing the Betty Ford Center. Today, the Rancho Mirage location delivers individualized care by blending evidence-based approaches, holistic practices, and 12-Step support.

Betty Ford Center Rancho Mirage provides multiple levels of care, including inpatient, outpatient, an options program for professionals, intensive outpatient, virtual outpatient, and a sober living program. Programming integrates 12-Step facilitation with research-backed therapies, and it’s supported by a multidisciplinary clinical team, including psychiatrists and physicians available on-site. The center also offers spiritual and wellness-focused activities. Treatment specialties include programs for people dealing with addiction and chronic pain, grief, LGBTQ+, family and children, and gender-specific care. Animal-assisted therapy is part of the experience as well, with therapy dogs onsite, including their well-loved goldendoodle Malcolm.

Support continues beyond residential treatment through nearby sober living arrangements and continuing aftercare services. The center also invites family members to attend Sunday visitations, when clients want. Set on a 20-acre campus near Palm Springs, California, Betty Ford Rancho Mirage features a beautiful facility with mountain views, a lake, a pool, and a fitness center. Betty Ford Rancho Mirage is accredited by Joint Commission, monitored by LegitScript, and a member of NAATP.
