Across the Inland Empire, Riverside University Health System (RUHS) operates as a broad health care network that provides both residential and outpatient services, including care for mental health conditions. The system is accredited by the Joint Commission and CARF.
RUHS’ Desert Mental Health Urgent Care site (also referred to as Telecare) focuses on restoring stability for people experiencing an active mental health crisis. Support is provided in multiple ways, including in-person visits at the office, telehealth sessions, and home visits.
RUHS’ services are designed for different life stages: children, transitional age youth (16–25), adults in midlife, and older adults 60 and over. Each group receives interventions tailored to their needs. A key priority is early support, including the Set-4-School program for children ages 0–5, which highlights the importance of early developmental assistance. Home-based visits are available as well, particularly for older adults. RUHS also offers specialized programs for pregnant and parenting women, as well as for individuals involved in the criminal justice system.
To broaden access, RUHS provides translation for all programs, including American Sign Language (ASL). Children up to age 5 are allowed to attend sessions with a parent or guardian, and all RUHS locations, including the Hemet Family Care Center, are wheelchair accessible.
RUHS follows a “whatever-it-takes” approach, delivering individualized assistance such as therapy, help with housing, and training in daily living skills to support stability and long-term recovery. Treatment may include medication support, multidimensional family therapy (MDFT), and coordination with primary care providers to ensure the right plan for each person.
Through the MyChart app, clients may review their treatment notes during and after services.
