For more than two decades, Passages Malibu has served as a leading rehabilitation center. Chris and Pax Prentiss, a father-and-son team, created it after Chris watched his son Pax battle addiction and experience repeated relapses over many years. Their experience pushed them to develop a non–12-step, holistic approach aimed at helping Pax step out of the cycle of substance abuse. From that mission, Passages was formed to offer hope and personalized care to others seeking their own path toward healing. Today, Pax Prentiss serves as CEO of Passages and oversees multiple locations, all focused on encouraging recovery, change, and lasting transformation for people facing challenges similar to his.
Passages Malibu’s philosophy is that addiction is not treated as a disease. Instead, they explain that addiction can be driven by four root factors: 1) chemical imbalance, 2) unresolved past experiences, 3) present-day situations you feel unable to manage, and 4) beliefs that you hold that don’t reflect reality.
Upon arrival at Passages Malibu, each person is placed with an individualized team of clinicians, which may include marriage and family therapists. Clients then receive a combination of psychotherapy and complementary services such as acupuncture, sound therapy, music therapy, personal training, hypnotherapy, and other supportive treatments. During your stay, you can expect about 60–80 hours per month of dedicated one-on-one therapy. The center also offers comfortable, private accommodations with ocean views, queen-size beds, large walk-in closets, jacuzzi tubs, aromatherapy air diffusers, and daily housekeeping. Located on 10 acres overlooking the Pacific Ocean, Passages Malibu features high-end amenities including outdoor seating and dining areas, a resort-style pool and jacuzzi, tennis courts, and a fully equipped fitness center.
