About Paradigm Treatment Centers

For the past 12 years, Paradigm Treatment has been delivering residential care for young adults ages 18 to 26 who are dealing with mental health challenges. Its medical and clinical teams focus on uncovering the underlying drivers of the difficulties these young people face in a fast-paced, high-pressure world. Working in partnership with clients and their families, Paradigm Treatment provides support for anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, mood and personality disorders, as well as situations involving co-occurring substance use. Clients receive four one-on-one therapy sessions each week, along with ongoing group and family sessions. Academic coordinators help address school-related concerns so participants can return to their studies after treatment. Complementing clinical work, the program includes experiential therapies such as yoga, meditation, and equine therapy to support lasting change. Paradigm Treatment accepts most commercial insurance, is accredited by The Joint Commission, and participates in networks such as Anthem.

With four welcoming Malibu locations, Paradigm offers a relaxed residential environment paired with high-quality therapeutic care. Just a short distance from the ocean, residents can take part in beach outings and walks along the shore. Each home is limited to six clients at a time, creating a highly personal, supportive setting for reflection and healing. The center’s approach aims to reach the root causes of mental health conditions, starting with thorough psychological, physical, and nutritional assessments. The staff are fully accredited and committed to guiding teens and young adults through mental health disorders and light to moderate substance use with a compassionate, professional approach.

Paradigm’s 30 to 90-day program gives clients the time they need to make progress before transitioning back to everyday life. To balance treatment with experiential activities, the center offers a wide range of on-site and off-site options, including swimming, surfing, horseback riding, and access to amenities such as a hot tub. During the school year, academic coordination may be used to help maintain continuity with home schools. The program also dedicates three hours to school each day, five days per week.

At Paradigm, clients benefit from individualized, strengths-based programming designed to improve each person’s odds of success. Participants and their families also have access to aftercare services for three years after treatment, supporting long-term recovery and reintegration. Alumni Emily and her mother Lori
