Encinitas Detox Center, based in the San Diego region, provides a residential detox program targeting alcohol, benzodiazepines, cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, opioids, prescription medications, synthetic drugs, and other substances. The facility is designed for up to five clients at once and can adjust meals and other needs upon request. Programming includes both one-on-one and group counseling using cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT). Clients also participate in scheduled outings and excursions, and the center offers eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EDMR). Depending on what best fits each person, the program supports the 12-Step approach as well as alternatives such as SMART Recovery or Buddhist Refuge Recovery. Encinitas Detox Center also uses medications including methadone, buprenorphine, and naltrexone to help ease cravings and withdrawal. Staff members address not only detox needs but also related concerns such as co-occurring trauma, mood instability, unpredictable behavior, and other mental health symptoms. Housing includes private and shared rooms, many with balconies, along with an in-suite jacuzzi. A communal outdoor patio is available, and clients can spend time exploring the surrounding area. Family involvement is encouraged through weekly counseling sessions and visits. For support after detox, Encinitas Detox Center coordinates referrals to appropriate aftercare resources.
