About AMFM Mental Health Treatment

AMFM Mental Health Treatment is a residential mental health program focused on integrative care for adults, centered on delivering strong primary mental health support. The Dana Point, men’s program is known for creating a caring, welcoming atmosphere, paired with individualized supervision and around-the-clock support. AMFM views healing as something broader than standard counseling or medication alone. Because of this, the entire structure of the program is thoughtfully designed, combining proven clinical interventions, supportive therapeutic relationships, and chef-prepared, healthy meals—each detail chosen to feel both compassionate and purposeful.

At AMFM, clinicians begin with thorough evaluations to better understand each person’s symptoms, past experiences, current difficulties, and personal strengths. Using this information, they develop a plan tailored to the individual needs and challenges. Treatment is available for primary mental health concerns as well as co-occurring conditions: AMFM delivers 60 hours per week of structured clinical programming, including medication management, several individual therapy sessions each week, weekly family therapy, and case management.

With a compassionate, evidence-informed model, AMFM aims to reach the underlying factors driving mental health issues, using medication when it’s clinically appropriate. Treatment is provided by licensed professionals using approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and other evidence-based methods. In addition, the program offers transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS). Participants meet weekly with a psychiatric provider for an individual session, and they attend two individual therapy sessions each week with a counselor. Mindfulness practices are integrated throughout the program to strengthen the overall impact of the therapy. Clients also participate in life skills training and psychoeducation.

Located in the coastal community of Dana Point, AMFM’s residential setting offers a calm, home-like experience. The center includes private and semi-private rooms, comfortable common spaces, dedicated areas for therapeutic work, and a scenic backyard with a relaxing porch. To support recovery in a holistic way, the program includes a range of therapeutic options, such as somatic experiencing, psychodrama, art therapy, yoga, and expressive arts therapy. After residential treatment, AMFM continues with structured aftercare, including group therapy, family follow-up sessions, assistance with professional re-entry, and alumni events—helping clients maintain continuity of support.
