About In Balance Counseling Inc

Inbalance in Tucson is dedicated to offering a secure, encouraging brotherhood to young men from high school through post-college age who are dealing with addiction. This transitional living option is for men who have already completed formal treatment and now need steady guidance, structure, and a supportive community to help them maintain sobriety.

The Inbalance program includes multiple key elements. The foundation is community. Residents build fellowship and brotherhood by attending 12 Step meetings together during their stay. They also participate in house meetings and meet regularly with a life coach employed by Inbalance. The life coach stays involved in several areas, monitoring each resident’s progress with 12 Step work, physical health and activity, and also overseeing their budget by tracking spending and account activity.

Another major component is therapy. The focus at Inbalance is on helping residents rebuild their lives rather than dwelling on past events. Family therapy sessions are held monthly, and families are encouraged to attend Al-Anon meetings during the intervals between sessions.

A third part of the program is fun and engagement. Inbalance shows young men that recovery can include enjoyment and connection by organizing activities such as sports, group events, ski trips, cliff diving, swimming, and other experiences.

For younger residents who are still in high school, the program supports continued education at Tucson High School. Inbalance provides a dedicated teacher who works with residents in their own classroom to help reduce exposure to “temptations.” The school schedule runs Monday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., shortened enough to still cover coursework while leaving ample time for recovery and life skills.
